To My Single Sisters

To my single sisters... I understand being single can be flustering sometimes. Does "He" even exist? Well, don't know...I am in the same boat. What I have learned is that what is meant for me in its due season shall come. In the meantime... We have to be better at loving ourselves as women, respecting each other instead of competing. We cannot let a man smiling at us and saying "you fine gurl!"be enough to share our time and bodies with them. We have allowed that to be enough. What do you want? Manifest it by being it and accept nothing less.

.

Simply put, people of African decent male and female have been thought the ringer for centuries, mentally, physically and spiritually to the point where we have lost a sense of value for ourselves and each other. Everything and everyone has something better, more important than who i am and what i have. Culturally, i feel we are breaking free from this limiting mentality as a people in America. Brown women are finally looking in the mirror and seeing that the hair that grows from this scalp is fascinating and it is divine how the coils sprout out reaching upward toward the sun like the plants and trees. My skin, bottom, hips, lips, mind, spirit, are admirable to me and secretly have been to others for over 400 years. Who am i? How i love this authentic woman i am discovering, i cannot count the ways.... . The secret is men love a challenge and a real man wants to know that you have more to offer than the same cookie every other woman has- doesn't matter who is attached. Women have more power than we know. And all it takes is one man to see you , to make that decision to be more for you, and love you the way you love yourself- the way God loves you.

.

I had a 72 year old male mentor that said women are the key to life and we need to own our power by unifying. We need to build and groom each other up. If we stopped letting men in and out of our front and backdoors, "respecting" the sisterhood, and drew a line in the sand regarding our standards/expectations for them as men, and as to what a man had to do in order to be with us- they would do it. So one by one as women we have to see the best way to attract a king is to be the queen.

.

P.S. Your season is coming.

Love,

LaVita Ru.
